Nordland Visual Theatre

Nordland Visual Theatre plays a key role in developing and promoting visual theatre in Norway. The theatre creates productions ranging from traditional puppet theatre to cross-over productions merging elements from the visual arts, theatre, mime, dance and multi-media. This is done in collaboration with puppeteers, actors, directors, stage designers, composers and artists from all over the world.

Nordland Visual Theatre was founded in 1991 and is funded by Nordland County, the municipality of Vestvågøy and Arts Council Norway. Each summer Nordland Visual Theatre participates in organising Stamsund Theatre Festival.

Stamsund in Lofoten

You will find Nordland Visual Theatre in the arctic, in one of Norway’s most spectacular landscapes – the Lofoten islands. Here the theatre is located in the small fishing community of Stamsund, in the middle of the dominating fishing industries and cultural institutions. It is housed in a building with two stages, workshops, offices and its own guest accomodation.
